Has my cat stopped giving birth?
Hi,I need some advice my cat has been in labour for around 5 and 1/2 hours and has given birth to 1 kitten. It has been about 2 hours since and everyhing seems to have stopped!
She has previously had 1 litter of 2 healthy cuties, so I was execting her to have more this time. Is it likely she's only having 1 this time?
    Many Thanks KB

Thank you for responding so quickly.
No, she seems OK, her breathing is a little rapid but not laboured. She's done all the right things with kitten no.1 and is showing no obvious signs of labour. She's settled with the kitten feeding.

The Stages of Feline Labor - When Your Cat Gives Birth

From what I understand, if it has been an hour after the first one was born, this may be all she has.

If she shows signs of labor over the next few hours (6 hours after the first kitten) , but is not producing any kittens, id say its worth a vet trip.

I have a moma cat who has just had her 2nd litter. The first litter, she only had one baby. This time she had 5. The first kitten was born in the morning around 10 am, the second one was not born until about 10:30 pm. It was a still born kitten. That"s the only reason I could figure out that it took so long to be born. Right after that one was born, the other 3 just came right on out about 15 minutes apart. We also thought that she was done. Hope that this can be helpful to you!

Thank you for your advice which is appricated. Hope you don't mind me asking you a question, but how was your cat's behaviour once she'd the first kitten? Was she eating and behaving as though it was all over?

I've heard that the momma usually eats when it's all over. Well, a half an hour to an hour after it's over.
