Having DIS problems with 82 ford ranger 2.3L
Well I know I asked a month or so ago about the DIS module on a 92 ford 2.3L, 4cyl (the one with 8 plugs on 4 cylinders). But now I can't seem to find my post again so here goes..
My truck started missing real bad. Its got new wires, new plugs and folks told me to replace the DIS module, well them things go for 93 bucks from my uncle who works at Napa even, so I got one from a wrecking yard (not the wisest choice I know) but it was only $30. It ran fine for a couple months, then srated missing again when its warm. So I chalked it up to the truck in the yard I got it from probably had over 110k miles. I remember the guy I talked to saying to replace it over 110k.
So I bought a brand new one from Napa, First one I got truck ran fine for a week, then just died and left me stranded. So I warrantied it out, got another one, put it in and the truck didn't even start, so I went back and put in the Original one. It'll run just fine with the original when its cold but when it started getting good and warmed up (around 20 minutes of driving or so) it starts to miss and loses power and the mileage goes way down.
I just got a third DIS from napa after warrantying out the second that didn't even work right out of the box, The third one now I put in it started but it sounded like it was only running on about 3 cylinders. Its Brand New.. I'm wondering what would cause the engine to miss like that when its gets warmed up and why the brand new ones run on 3 cylinders or don't even work all right out of the box. Now I'm running on the original motorcraft one again. Its good for short trips but anything longer and its gets to running so bad you can't hardly get to 50mph.
Are there any other sensors, camp or crank position or whatever the DIS gets its signal from that could be goind bad too? That's why I don't like these new cars, too hard to figure out what's going on with them :( Used to be car didn't start, clean the points and your gtg, lol

2001 Ranger. I found dangling down from left side rear a hose with a cilp. It was attached to the axle housing. What is it for and where does it go. It just appears to be some type of air hose but is not attached to anything at other end. Should I be concerned? Thanks
