    Motor wiring??
 Perhaps someone here can help me, I bought a small GE 120v electric motor for a replacement for a machine. It has 3 three wires (red, yellow, blue) and requires a 10mf capacitor. My best guess was to wire it with Blue to line , red-line & cap, and yellow on the other cap term. But it runs very weak and you have to spin it to get it to run! Any other wiring suggestions? I don't really want to experiment and fry it!

If you can provide the model number would be a big help. Color codes for motors are not universal, each manufacturer uses colors differently.

Thanks for the reply, OK here are the numbers as stamped on the motor:
    5KCP19 KG584A

From what I have been reading I believe it to be a "permanent split capacitor motor". Readings across blue to red are around 42 Ohms, yellow to red or yellow to blue are both around 21 ohms wich means that the yellow is the sort of "center tap" of the windings.

    Hello, The motor GE 5kcp19
Blue and red to the 15mf run cap.
Then neutral to blue and hot to yellow.
    This is the proper wiring.
