Sick puppy
I have a 7 week old puppy he has been fine we were out in the heat a few days ago and the last couple of days he has started not eating or drinking he seems to have nausea and dry heaves. He also is sleeping a lot. Is there anything I can try at home to make him better.

At seven weeks old he should be sleeping a lot. That is what puppies do and that's how they grow. He could have heat stroke. They are babies you know and should be protected when out in the hot or cold weather. They ae not infallible because they are dogs.
What kind of dog is it ?
I would take him to the vet to be on the safe side.

My puppy is a mini dachshund and is the runt. I have been taking him out to potty in the back yard maybe he came across some pesticides on the grass. Several weeks ago we treated the yard for fleas, bugs and also fertilized. Would this cause these symptoms?
I have noticed his stool is getting a little thicker. He also is getting up every now and then.
I just wish he would eat and drink. At least drink.

Yes, pesticides would do that damage, but kidney damage is really scary from a dog ingesting this stuff. His stool getting thicker is a good sign, but as you say, I would be happy if he was drinking, very important. Good for you for taking the runt, you know sometimes those little guys turn out to be the healthiest, sturdiest good natured pups. Maybe because when they get a good mom they appreciate it so much more. I would still take him to the vet given what you have told me about the pesticides, especially because these lovely little dogs are so much closer to the ground then other animals.
Kindest regards

I'm wondering what a 7 week old puppy is doing away from his mother.
It's best to wait until a puppy is at least 8 weeks old before removing him from his mother and litter mates.

Your puppy might have parvo you really should call and talk to a vet. I have two small dogs and they are just like kids, they get sick easy, also my vet even told me even if your puppies have had all there shots, they can still get parvo, so be real careful, I didn't even let my puppies on the grass until he got all of his first years shots. Call your vet asap.

It's unlikely that it's parvo. Parvo is easily detected because the puppy will be extremely ill. Vomiting, diarrhea, lack of appetite, not drinking, so many symptoms.
Yes, the OPs dog has some of the symptoms but it sounds to me that it's just too much time in the sun.
Always best to go to a vet when you're concerned because no one on an internet site can give an accurate diagnosis, but I doubt it's parvo.

The part that worries me is that he is not drinking.
It could just be sunstroke but I would be making a vet appointment for sure.
Dehydration can be extremely dangerous.

He may only be seven weeks, and he is the runt of the litter apparently. Sometimes the runt can't fight for a teat and lacks nurishment, languishes and dies. So even though seven weeks, sounds like he has a caring home. I have seen these poor little things flourish under good care. Some are just fighters and do well.
