I would really like some advice on changing the attic light switch so I can tell when that attic lights are on. I purchased a Cooper 227V combination single pole and pilot light switch that I want to use to replace a light switch. The switch has three screws on one side that are silver, green, and brass. The other side has two black screws bridged together. The box has three wires, a ground, white and black wire. There were no instructions in the box.
When I connected the white wire to the silver screw, the ground,bare coper wire, to the green screw, and the black to the copper screw the pilot light came on and was switched but the lights did not work. I did nothing with the two black screws on the other side of the switch. They are bridged together with a break off tab for some reason.

Don't break Tab off. Power goes to the Copper screw, Light connects to one of the black screws, White to white, ground to green.

The white is to the pilot neutral, so when you turn switch on, it puts power to the 2 black screws, one is connected to the pilot hot, and either black can connect to lights black.
