Horrible Sewer Smell coming out of my tub
Please help me find the solution to this horrible problem. We live in an old house that my husbands dad built back in the 50's just here lately we have been getting this horrible odor(smells like sewer 100 times over) out of the tub drain in our larger bathroom and from the shower drain in the other. If I run water the smell stops for a little while. The drains drain well nothing seems to be stopped up and my husband checked the drains between the two walls and didn't see a problem there. What else can it be or what do we need to do??
    Thank you so much
    Sandi

The smell is so bad that it makes me sick :(:(

    Hey Sandi,

Most bad smells in tubs, lavatories and showers are caused by rotting hair matted with grease from the soap. Try this for the smell. Tonight before bedtime Take a 1/2 gallon of bleach and pour it down each drain and let set over night. Next morning ,(and this is important) flush out the drain with two large pans of boiling water to loosen the grease and flush the mess out. The bleach will make the hair slippery and began to dissolve it and the hot water will melt the grease and flush the mess away.
. This should make your drains smell better. With all chemicals used in drain cleaning proper ventilation should be observed. Good luck, Tom
