    Cutting Corian Counter Tops
I am installing a new burner unit in our Corian counter top. The existing cut out is 1/8th of inch too small so I need to shave 1/8th off one side of the cut out. What is the best method to do this? I have read that a regular skill saw will do.

If u have a router with a straight cutter carbide bit, this would be best.

Hot glue straight edge to counter as guide. Put down duck tape to control chipping.

If u have to use power saw, put 2 lines of tape to protect counter from getting scratched. Use 40 tooth carbide blade.

U will have to clean end of cuts with hand saw or file.

    Good luck

    Two more things:

1 Make sure that yousand the cut as smooth as the top. This will eliminate any "stress risers".

2 Apply some metallic tape to the edge of the hole all the way around. This will wick heat away from any single area that may get spot heating form the cook top.

    I hope this helps
