    Ford Taurus
I have a 2005 ford taurus (65k). My transmission just stop working. It starts up
OK and when I put it into any gear it will not go into any gear what soever. The
Gear shift lever just slides up and down like it has grease or oil on it. It does not
Click for R, P, N or D all it does is SLIDES with no resistance. Does this means
The gears is burnt up or is there a part on the transmission gone? I need help.
    Thank You.

    No, probably not.
It sounds like the shifter has come loose from the shift cable, probably right at the shift arm.
Is there a way to get a look at it?
Does the gear position indicator move?

Check linkage and Transmissiom Range Sensor (TRS), under the hood. Shouldn't be too dificult to spot the problem.
