There are multiple treatments available but none too promising. Surgery can remove the affected tissue (pleurectomy/decortication etc) with a combination of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. At present there is no cure for mesothelioma but a combination of various drugs on trial (ie pemetrexed, cisplatin etc) in combination with vitamin supplementation after the removal of the cancer, can increase life expectancy for about five years due to cancer remission.
Also a wide range of immunotherapy drugs and a technique called heated intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy (direct application of chemo drugs to affected area and heat treatment) to kill cancer cells. These are all trial treatments and have variable outcomes for each individual, ultimately if metastasis causes too much pain and discomfort (ie block blood vessels) palliative care can be given to relieve discomfort.
