    I can't sleep. Solutions?
I am seventeen years old, and I think I have insomnia or something.

I try to go to bed at a decent time, like 10:30, but I lie in bed for three or four hours tossing and turning, but I don't feel tired. I don't sleep until two in the morning or so. This has been happening for about two months now.

Are there any suggestions that would help me sleep better? And when I get into bed, not three hours later?

Cherry juice (TART) make sure its real cherry ju ice. Not a mixture with other juices. It helps you sleep! It should be like $5.00 for the bottle. Take an hour or so before bed.

There's a couple of standard things you should not do, like, don't drink a lot a caffeine drinks during the day, including fizzy drinks, don't eat at least 2 hours before you go to bed,try and get some exercise into your day, make sure your room is not too hot,and if there is anything on your mind, write it out, or make a list of things you need to do the next day.
If you normally have a good sleep pattern and this is not the norm for you, take a look at your diet or anything new that's come into your life. There are loads of herbal remedies you can get over the counter, but take advice if you decide to go that route.
Meditation is a good way to relax before bed,and try not to stress about the reason your not sleeping.

I have insomnia hon. And its not fun. Sometimes there is nothing you can do short of taking a sleep pill (talk to your doctor before you just go buy one over the counter please :) )

The best advice I can give that has helped me is Don't do the following an hour before bed

    Eat
    Watch tv/movies
    Play video games
    Excersize

    DO

    Take a bath or shower
Read a book instead of watching telivision

You can also get a relaxation tape (nature sounds, soft music) and lay down an hour before your normal bedtime and breath deeply and on a steady beat.

Good luck hon. If all else fails see your doctor about a light sleep med. I say again DO NOT medicate yoruself without your doctor :P

Thank you thank you. I have tried putting those warm up bean bags on my tummy too. That usually makes me tired. Or hot tubs, like you said jenniepepsi. Thank you so much for all the advice.

This isn't really meant to be a joke but asides not consuming caffeine before you bed, have you ever tried self-sex?

Sometimes when I can't sleep I masturbate and it knocks me right out.

    Just a suggestion..

The best thing to do is to consult with a doctor. You don't want it to effect your daily life. Avoid pills. Please let them be your LAST option.

I am not a big fan of pills. Doesn't matter what kind. Don't worry =).

It's especially bad right now because I have a cold and my nose is stuffy and what not. But it's slowly going away.

And thanks to everybody's suggestions everything is helping. Thank you all!

You can get some excellent homeopathic sprays for sleeplessness and insomnia. Just a couple of spays in the mouth before you go to bed.

Also, I tend to lie awake when there is some underlying anxiety (sometimes it's not even conscious). Might this be the case with you?

    Does it taste good?

Oh. That does make sense. I've had a lot of exams, and such. Maybe that's the problem. School is over in three days for me. Hooray!

    Hopefully that will help.

Tastes OK! Slightly medicinal. Good luck with your results.
