    Whole house water softener
I recently bought a 2 year old condo that had been empty for over a year. The water was shut off which was fine, but the water softener was empty apart from about a foot of dirty water in the bottom. I bailed this out, but what do I do now. Put salt in & hope it works.
    Can someone please help.

Yep, make sure tank is as clean as you can get it, add salt and you should be set.

Mygirlsdad77 is right. Clean out the brine tank, make sure that the softener is not by-passed so that water is going into the softener. (look where the pipes go into and out of your softener, there should be either a dial to push in, or valves to open, or a lever to slide) Then once you put the salt in, I would run it through a manual regeneration cycle TWICE. Each one takes about an hour and a half. If you are not sure how to do that tell us what type of softener you have and we can walk you through it.
    Hope this helps

Water softener resin clogging water supply lines [ 1 Answers ]

We have a water softener that has a resin filter that has broken numerous times due to surges in water pressure. This time we didn't realize it had broken in time to bypass the softener and avoid getting resin in the lines again. We've already flushed the resin out of the 2 toilets and 2 sinks...

Constant running water noise, old water softener pipes? [ 3 Answers ]

When we bought our house, it came with a decommissioned water softener in the laundry room. The pipes behind it (I'm assuming in and out) were capped off with plastic plugs that toggle back and forth. If you're familiar with Dr. Dolittle, I'd call it a pushmi-pullyu setup. (sorry, I'm an admin, not...

Whole House Water Filtration & Softener Systems [ 2 Answers ]

I am about to purchase the third (and hopefully last) whole house water filtration system for my home in 11 years. The most recent system, AcquPure, has not been adequate in battling calcium. I am considering the purchase of either Pelican PSE 1800 Premium Filter-Softener or Aquacera FSC10CJ7. ...

Rainsoft Water Softener - Salt tank not filling with water? [ 1 Answers ]

Put a bag of salt in my softener today and it appeared to be way over the brine level. Checked on it a few hours later and still had dry pellets on top. Manually regenerated the system - no fill. Letting it go through its cycle now, but wondering if there's something I'm overlooking. There's...

Water Softener for whole house [ 8 Answers ]

Hello, The plumbing set up in my house does not have a loop for a softener. So from what I have been told I would have to have softened water running throughout my house, kitchen included. (unless I spend a fortune to get plumbing redone) Is this a bad idea? Can anyone give me any advice...
