    ITIN Problems
    Hi,

I had filed a joint tax return along with an application for ITIN with my wife.ITIN got rejected due to typo error on my name and I had resubmitted a corrected ITIN application form along with all the needed documents and copy of my tax return again. Its been 6 weeks and not received any communication. When I call IRS they are saying I will have to wait for another 6 weeks when my tax return will get processed as well.

Also, during this time now I have received a penalty letter from IRs asking me to pay because I cannot claim spousal records as ITIN is not there in the system.

    What do I do ?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Respond to the penalty letter stating that the tax return has been re-submitted and is being processed at the ITIN center in Austin, Texas.

    Then just wait!
