    Jack Russell sick from moving
My Jack RussellTerrier had not acted the same since our move across town to another location 4 days ago. He was boarded for 2 days during our move to try to keep down problems for him. He now has diaharrea and today (the 4th) day home has vomited up yellow bile only. He is not acting like himself. He acts depressed. Is this normal and if so, how can I make this better. He is not eating, but still drinks just a little water. I took him to the vet today and was told he should be okay soon and gave him a shot for nausea and vomiting. No other tests were done and I'm worried. Can someone give me any suggestions. Thanks

Dog could be suffering from some separation anxiety. Also, boarding facility could have fed him different food than he is used to eating. Some dogs do not eat when in boarding because they are afraid and disoriented due to the separation issue.

Give the dog lots of TLC and try reintroducing food in small quantities, i.e. a teaspoon at a time and gradually increasing it. Try wrapping your dog in a soft blanket and holding him in your lap--if he's too big for that, sit on the floor next to him while you are watching TV and let him know he is loved.

We take in rescue doxies and the disorientation and separation anxiety issues are not all that uncommon. It takes time and loving to put things back to right. Your dog may have misinterpreted the temporary housing arrangement as punishment for doing something bad and they simply can't figure out what they did wrong.

    Good luck.

Was your dog up to date with all of his vaccinations before going to the boarding kennel?
He may have picked up something from the other dogs.

Another factor is stress... He would have been anxious about being left alone and thought you had abandoned him... stress can havea huge effect on a dogs health and causes diarreah, vomiting, loss of appetite and behavioural issues..

Whenever I board my dogs they think I am leavibg them forever...
Give him a few days to settle down and get used to being back home.
Feed him a very bland diet of just boiled chicken and rice for the next few days... this will help with both the vomiting and the diarreah...

If the diarreah lasts for more than 2 days tyhen you need to get him back to the vet for another check up.

I have a Jack russell and have experienced the same thing with him... They are NOTORIOUS for suffering from some serious separation anxiety.. he or she is probably just stressed out from being in a new environment and you having to leave him in a kennel for a few days fortunately they have about a week long memory span so he or she should be fine in a couple of days just give it lots of love and maybe a new bone and he'll be as good as new :)
