    AC compressor not running
My AC froze up and stopped cooling.
I turned the ac off, and put the fan in run mode until the ice melted.
When I turned the unit back on, the compressor did not come on.

It is an Amana, just over 3 yrs old.

The outside unit is not running.
The fan unit inside the house turns on when the Auto mode kicks on.

I went to the Amana web site to review their warranty, but
Could not find my model listed, a BMA42F00A.

Any idea how well they take care of problems like this?

Your serial number would give a hint to what the age of your unit is but this does not sound like it will be that serious of a problem. Have you checked your fuses or your breakers which ever you have for the outdoor unit. Check those and you need to check with a meter that will show you how much voltage there is instead of a light that will light if there is voltage. With the current off stick a stick or something in the unit to the fan blade and see if it will turn easily.

If,. It is still under warranty... do nothing and call the person who installed it... any work on AC by you will kill the warranty

I have done nothing but shut it down and let it defrost.
The serial number is 02101 22104.

All the Circuit breakers on the hous panel are set.
I did not see an CBs on either the compressor or the inside unit.

Where would I check the voltage for the compressor?

Have you look at or tested the contactor in the outside unit? Could be the coil in it is bad and not pulling in the contacts

I have not checked anything on either unit of the ac.
No schematic to follow or voltage chart.

The contactor is in the condensing (outside) unit It is a rectangler Box with the incoming 240V and when a call for cool from thermostat the coil will energize and the contacts will close passing current to other componets. Be very careful as you are dealing with high voltage. If not comfortable or experienced call a tech. Safety is most important
