Briggs Engine won't start
I have Craftsman mower #917-377552 6.0 Gold that won't start. The problem started I believe with it's being put away for the season after it had been run out of gas. I took the carb off and sprayed it out with carb cleaner and blew it out with a air hose. The motor will start when I pour gas down the spark plug hole but won't keep running. For whatever reason, gas is not reaching the engine and pushing the primer bulb isn't drawing any gas. I had the primer bulb checked and they said that it is fine. I put my finger over the carbs opening and had someone pull the starting rope and there is suction. What am I missing??
Motor info-
Mod 12h802
Type 2675-E1
Code 98061159
Thanks.

You have a fuel delivery problem.
Your carb looks like it's here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/part...ponents%20list
Item #134 (fuel valve) is likely sticking.
Carb may have to be disassembled and cleaned.
From now on, near the end of the season, be sure to add Sta-bil fuel preservative to your last few containers of gas that you get. Use mid grade gas or better.

The fuel bowl is filling with gas. For whatever reason, the fuel is not getting to the engine. I had the valve out and replaced the seat ( the old one blew across to parts unknown). No adjustment on the plastic float so I'm assuming that that is not the problem.

If all the parts are present and the float is working properly, then you may have a blocked internal passage.
On an automotive carb, I used carb cleaner that cam in a gallon and used compressed air to blow out the passage.
I hear some end up replacing the carb.

In the passageway that the primer bulb draws through, I felt roughness so I put a drill bit in a pin vise and cleaned out the passageway. After cleaning out with spray carb cleaner, blowing out with an air hose, reassembling, and pushing the primer bulb about 8 times, it started on the first pull. Just the way it should be! Thanks.

PS Bob, putting the mower away after it runs out of gas is what you are supposed to do, you did nothing wrong there. I always run an engine dry before storing or add fuel stabilizer for the winter. STA-BIL
