Natural Instincts Dye will not wash out!
    Hi,

I have dyed my hair Neutral Black by Natural Instincts and it will not wash out. Its been about five months too~ said on the box was semi-permanent.
I was thinking about using Color Opps which sells at Walgreens or using dish soap.
    What do you think?

    Thank you! =)

I suspect that you put it on bleached hair. Right? At least on already-dyed and probably porous hair. This is not uncommon. The "semi-permanent" (actually demi-permanent" products can be more permanent on bleached hair than permanent haircoloring.

Color Oops (also ColorFix, Color Zap, Igora Phantom) will probably work. Dish soap will not. You'll have to dye it after using any of these products.

Actually, my hair is naturally a medium brown so I did not bleach it to dye it. Just dyed it for fun I suppose haha. I had you semi-permanent dye before though.

Interesting. Usually, it will come out if you had only dyed it with demi-permanents. I'll have to put this one down in my book. If you had dyed it with permanent dye (regardless of the color), it can still make the color "grab" permanently.

You'll have 2.5 (6.4 cm) inches of new growth () if you did it 5 months ago. You should be able to see the difference in your new growth and the colored hair. If you use color remover, you'll probably have some difference in color between the new growth and the ends.

Oh... so even if I used color remover it still would not make it my natural color?

No. Color remover is intended to dissolve artificial pigment so it can be washed out. It also will take out some of the natural color. Exactly how much can only be discovered by doing a strand test or the whole head.

Hydrogen peroxide used in hair dyes lightens the natural undertones. Even in the demi-permanents, it can lighten them a little. People who use demi-permanents frequently find that their hair lightens quite a bit over time. I'm not sure how many times you've used the demi-permanents, but I suspect that because it won't come out, that there has been some lightening of the natural pigment.

    Did I explain that reasonably?

I used Natural Instincts too. I tried the new line of champagne blondes because one shade looked so close to my natural hair color. Unfortuately, it made my hair exceedingly dark. I waited for it to wash out and then a month later tried another shade - light blonde (not the champagne colors) and my hair took on a reddish color. At that point I stopped using any product. About 4 weeks later I went away for a few days and went swimming at the beach and a water park. Afterwards, noticed that my hair was lighter but still with a reddish hue (definitely not my natural color). I've tried using Prell shampoo and another clarifying shampoos but couldn't get the color out of my hair. My hair was pretty light originally (just wanted to hide some grays). I'm assuming that my hair was too porous and drank up the dye and now it won't let go. It's now about 2 months since this ordeal and I see new hair growth and 'gasp' I have a dreaded demarcation line. The whole purpose of using Natural Instincts was to be able to experiment without having to deal with 'roots'. I'm totally devastated, not sure what to do. My hair is waist length, and the idea of chopping off hair or putting anything further into it is not something I want to do. Any suggestions on what can be done aside from waiting a few yrs for all of this color to grow out?

Perito, I noticed you kept writing "demi-permanent." was that typo or is it something different than a semi-permanent?

I just used natural instincts for the first time the other day. I was disappointed because I had meant to grab a permanent dye and didn't realize until I was just about to dye my hair that it wasn't labeled as so. Guess it might work out for me though :)

I did the same thing! :(

It won't wash out because you basically stained your hair!
If you use a semi-permanent product in your hair that is a very dark color like black, you stain your hair and it will never wash out. There is actually fine print on the Natural Instincts box.

It has been three years now since I did the same thing, and I still haven't fixed the pigment.

I wish you lots of luck! :)

Mandy, I'm curious to know how if it's been three years the stained part still hasn't grown out?

My hair was down to my butt when I had the incident. And it doesn't grow fast at all.
The length that is still affected has red pigmentation. Red pigmentation and a desire to be blonde don't mix well.
