Light fixtures not working since I put in bulbs that were too powerful
    Hi Everyone

I have a light fixture that takes 5 20w light bulbs. 2 of the bulbs were dead and I stupidly replaced them with 50w bulbs whilst leaving the remaining 3 sockets with 20w bulbs.

The lights initially worked but after a short time stopped working. Now they don't respond to me turning the light switch on or off. I checked the fuse box and it didn't trip out so there's notihng to reset. I also removed all the light bulbs and replaced them with brand new 20w bulbs and it still doesn't work.

Is there anyway I can fix this myself or will I need to contact an electrician?

    Thanks!

    Hi nifty

If all lights stopped working, may be defective switch.
Did u check light switch? Is light fixture rated for 20 watt bulbs or lower?

    Good luck

Fixtures burning out bulbs [ 2 Answers ]

Not sure if this is a fixture problem, or some other. It seems that I go through lightbulbs rather quickly in two different fixtures in my house. I've even tried those long life, power-saver bulbs, to no avail. Both fixtures are cheap. One is a basic lightbulb fixture that you plug into a...
