Low air flow(dirty filter, dirty evaporator coil, bad blower motor) or low on refrigerant will cause one to freeze up. Turn your thermostat to off but turn the blower to on at the thermostat to help melt the ice. After a few hours check the filters an evap coil to see if they are clean.

When you set thermostat system selector to "off", also check if the outdoor unit has stopped. If still running, you may have a contactor with points fused together.
