Removing a caregiver out of your home
I am the caregiver to my mother in my home. I have hired a woman to help with my mothers care in exchange for free room and board. She has been here for 2 months and it is not working out. She was not honest in her interview about her habits, and continues to break rules that were talked about. We put nothing in writing. I want her out. How much time to I need to give her, and what do I do If she does not leave and remove her things?

How do you pay her, in cash?

If so, she probably isn't declaring it on her income taxes. In which case, kicking her out just like that will probably be OK.

Or, if you don't want to sink to her, illegal level, give her either:
    a) 2 weeks notice
Or b) tell her to leave now and pay her 2 weeks severance pay

Just to add one point. This person isn't a tenant but an employee. Room and board was part of her comensation and tied into the job. Therefore, when you terminate her employment you are also terminating her residence. If you want to be nice, you give her a 1 or 2 week notice.
