    OPT taxes
Thanks! I downloaded pub 519 and found the info about OPT on page 46 but could not find any mention of Form 483. Where do I get this form?

Am I responsible for filing it with the IRS or my employer (a new company that is hiring foreign students for the first time)?

You can download Form 483 from www.irs.gov.

YOU have to file it if you cannot convince your employer to refund the improperly-withheld Social Security and Medicare taxes. Note that if your employer refuses to refund these taxes, you must get the refusal in writing.

I cannot find form 483. I did however see a form 843 which pertains to refunds and this form is mentioned in Pub 519 on page 46. Is this the form that you are suggesting? Tks, Ravi

You are right; it is Form 843! I seem to get dyslexic whenever I key in that form number. Sorry!
