I am a computer programmer and I am looking for feedback from parents.

I am considering developing a Home Alone monitoring system for Latch Key Kids. The system would monitor the house for access/exits, smoke, power outage and the child via safety verification entries.

I am looking for input from parents on any and all aspects of this from the parents view point.

Is this something worth doing or is it too much big brother on our children?

What is your thought on this monioring system?

Positive and negative feeback are both welcome, if I do this I want it to be the best and effective.

There is nothing wrong with monitoring the children's activity.

Can you make this system in terms of being a bit hidden so that the system works, but the children don't know it is there?

That way, mom/dad can monitor children's activity when they are home alone without the children knowing they were being monitored.

There are several good systems out on the market to monitor latch key kids, but a better system is always something worth marketing.

Most will log a child in with a security code, and allow video and some audio monitoring of the inside of the home. Parents can access it on their computers using a log in code.

Also some day care centers are offering similar services where the parents can log in and observe their child at the day care center.

It sounds like a good idea. Personally I don't believe in allowing one's kids to be "latch key kids" but for those parents who feel they have no choice it may well be a worthwhile product.
