Assaulted in Detroi!
On May 17th around 10:30 pm my husband, two of our friend and I were standing in line to use the bathroom. Two men started arguing I was standing about 8 feet away and was unable to here what they were saying. I looked over and saw about 7 men surrounding my husband. I saw my husbands hands up in the air and he was backing up. The man standing behind me in line turn very fast and looked over. He had a look on his face that he was angry. I was very confused about everything and told the guy "don't fight". The other lady who was with us was also telling the guy to calm down. The guy saw my husband backed up against the porta potty. The man ran over and I was behind him close enough to hear what was happening. My husband was yelling "no one needs to fight", "don't fight". My husband had his hands up and the man hit him. My husband fell to the ground and was knocked out. I grabbed security and asked them to hold the man until the police arrive. The security company was RSIG of Southfield. I explained that if they did not hold the guy I would hold them responsible. They asked the man to step over away from the crowd. They asked him what happen. I couldn't hear what he was saying because I was checking on my husband. I saw one of the security men talking to witnesses and I could hear them. They were closer to my husband and I. All of the witnesses were saying that my husband had tried to pull the two original guys apart and was asking them not to fight but was surrounded by the group of guys and hit. A few witnesses said they tried to step in but there were to many. I kept saying to RSIG to please keep him till the police arrive. They held him for about 10 minutes and at this point there were several RSIG men standing there. A black gentlemen who was part of there staff walked up and told the guy who assaulted my husband to leave. The guy walked off and a few of the other RSIG employees were yelling "why did you do that?" He laughed and said "I just let him go". EMS Hart Medical and two police officers from Central District arrived. I explained what happen to the police and they were asking why RSIG would let someone go who assaulted someone who was not fighting? The guy who let him go said "I didn't know we were suppose to keep him". I told the police officer and he explained he should not have let the man go. EMS was asking my husband if he could stand and taking a look at him face. As they were looking at him witnesses were coming up to let them know he was innocent and hit with his hands up. The EMS (Jeff Hendricks) explained that the injury was serious and that he needed to get to the hospital. He didn't think he needed an ambulance but that he needed to go straight there. The police neglected to take a statement or file a report with us there. I started to walk my husband out of the plaza and he was unaware of where he was or what had happened. As we were walking I noticed he was not able to form a sentence. I asked him if he could tell me his birth date, President or current date. He was unable to answer any of those questions. He seemed to be getting weaker so I stopped and asked one of the RSIG(Lance, who was not there at the violent scene) to call EMS for an ambulance. I asked the two friends to stay with him while I ran to get the name of the RSIG employees involved. I went into there office and asked to have there names. The supervisor knew who I was as soon as I went in and stated I had to leave. He came around the table and was walking towards me telling me to leave. I explained that I needed to know who was at the scene and who was in charge. He finally said his name was Matthew but that he knew it was handled badly and if he was there he would have handled it better but that he could not give me the employees names.I went back to where my husband was. They put my husband on the stretcher and took us to Detroit Receiving Hospital. On the way he was talking some but still unaware of where he was or what was happening. When the ambulance pulled up to the hospital and removed him on the stretcher he was throwing up. I called what is listed as the Detroit Police station on Google 313-224-1500 and received a busy signal several time for the next hour. I then called 911 and asked that a police officer come to the hospital so that we could file a report. I waited 2 hours and no one arrived. I called again and explained it was my second call, she stated they were coming. Two more hours past and I called again. I explained it was my third call and was very upset. The operator explained she is letting them know but that it is the department who is not dispatching them. A police officer showed up around 7am and took a statement from my husband but I was not there by then. My husband was unable to tell him much because he was still unable to remember anything. They took him in where he was treated for 12 hours. I was told by the surgeons he has a closed head injury and a broken bone in his face.
I called the police department today and was given a case number.
Do we have a case against RSIG for not holding the guy who assaulted my husband?
