    Baby flatulence
    Hello,

My 9 week old is suffering from flatulence and it started waking her up at night! She used to sleep soundly at least for 5 hours at night and now is up every 2 hours on average with farts. I do burp her after every feed to try to prevent air going down, but nothing helps!

    Cheers

You burp her after every feed, but do you burp her DURING feeds? It is important to periodically take the bottle out of her mouth and burp her, then put the bottle back in her mouth.

It sounds as though she may have a tummy ache.

It is very common for young babies to make all kinds of wonderful noises as their little bodies fine tune and adjust to the work of digestion.

If you are breastfeeding, you may look at what you are eating... sometimes a good deal of dairy can effect baby. If you are formula feeding, it is likely just your baby's system still maturing, which goes on for much of the first year. If it is causing your baby distress, and you think she is in pain, you can ask her doctor about either trying a different formula or perhaps giving her some infant gas drops before bedtime... (these should be a last resort). Neither is necessary, however, if it is just an annoyance and not a true health concern. You can also try keeping her upright for a bit, or doing some tummy massage before putting her down.
Most will usually outgrow it before too long, or at least it will lessen from how it is now!
