    Oscar,
My first car was the family hand me down. It was a "1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale", It was given to me on my 16th birthday. It was 6 years old at the time , and not a hot rod or babe magnet, but it was great. It had four doors, great for riding with ALL your buddies, or "dating". It got MAYBE 10 -12 miles to the gallon, (gas was 60 cents a gal back then) , but I loved that car. It was MINE and that's all that mattered. I kept it until I graduated high school, and got a job making a little more than minimum wage ($ 3.75 an hour )and then I traded it in for a great Grand Prix.It took me to work and college. Good luck, and don't be disappointed. My daddy taught me " take care of it and it will take care of you".The only thing I still wish I had was him.

1965 Ford. I was 15 and unable to drive. Car had run into a tree and I got it for $50 in that state. It had about 68K miles.

Spent time replacing the fender, bumper, splash pan and doing body work and got it painted.

It had some mechanical problems. Replaced the exhause system and some ball joints. Did a brake job. Replaced some wheel cylinders.

I re-upstered the seats using a treadle sewing machine.

I rebuilt the carb. Toook off the head. Had the head resurfaced and some valves replaced.

Ported the intake manifold with a rotary file.

    Added an opto-electronic electronic ignition.

When I was done I had a 6 cyl car that got 18 mpg city.

It had over 100K miles when I got rid of it.

    Lots of fun.
