If you start a business before you get married in your name. Then get divoreced.
    I was wondering

If you start a business in your name and you are the sole owner...

    Before you get married..?
And lets say 10 years or 40 years later...

    You get divorced...

Do you still get to keep it??

Or do you have to sell it??

I'm not saying any of this is going to happen but I was just thinking...

It would depend on two things. First, when you get married you may choose to get a prenuptial agreement which states whether your spouse has any rights to previously owned assets. This would be the best thing to do if you are concerned or are wealthy and wish to protect yourself. Second, if you choose not to get a prenup, it depends on the state you live in. For instance, I live in Arizona. Arizona is a community property state. Which means that in your situation, upon a divorce, your spouse would have rights to any and all property regardless of when you came into possession. You should be able to Google your state and get that info. Hope that answers your question.
