Why so few RSVPs
My son got married last year and I was shocked at how many people I had to call to ask if they were coming because they didn't return the RSVP card. Is this a common problem or our my friends just rude?

When I got married I don't remember a single person mailing back the RSVP card, most people called, emailed or we spoke to often enough they told us in person.
Fewer and fewer people actually use the mail, apart from having things delivered that they buy online!

Unfortunately, it's becoming more and more common. But that doesn't make it any less rude.

We had the same problem about not getting back the RSVPs, and I included the RSVP card with stamped address, as well as a Web site, where they could RSVP online.
I ended up having to have family members call those I hadn't heard from to chat and nicely ask if they were coming to the wedding somewhere in the middle of the chat.

For my wedding plans (a loong way off but I'm thinking about it already) I plan to include stamped self addressed envelopes for the RSVP's.
And yes it is common and very annoying...
I delivered my rsvp to my friends wedding in person to make sure she got it!

We did have stamped self addressed envelopes for the RSVPs and still several people did not return them.

You would be surprised, ( or maybe not) how many people have no idea what RSVP means.
Take a survey of people you know or meet, of younger people I doubt if 1/2 know.

I think this is the norm nowadays. I have a wedding this Saturday and a lot of my friends didn't bother responding if they were attending. Even worse, some have R.S.V.P'd and now are not even showing up to the wedding, no message no nothing. I honestly wouldn't even think twice about this, most people it seems are too interested in their own life to make others a little easier.

You know what is sad I bet if you had set up a Facebook page for the wedding everyone would have RSVP as soon as they got the friend request.

Even if someone doesn't know what RSVP means they should figure that there is a reason for the card to be included with the invitation and if I put a stamp on it there must be a good reason that I want it back. The dinners have to paid for in advance of the wedding.
