    Carrier A/C unit shut off noise
    Hi,

    Hopefully you can give me an idea if there is a malfunction with my home A/C unit. It is a Carrier Unit it is a split unit gas heat and has a heat pump ( compreesor outsie). I have noticed that when it is cooling that when it shuts off it makes a loud "cluck" sound. I have not owned the house that long but can you tell me if this is a normal sound or a problem that needs to be fixed.
    If this helps the house was built in 2002 , the unit is original.

    You say it is a heat pump, probably just the revercing valve switching
