    GE dishwasher repair
My GE dishwasher does not dry well. The dry cycle was getting to 128 - 130 degrees. I installed a new GE heating element and it still only gets to 130. Is there a thermostat on this unit? What else could it be? Any help appriciated.

I don't believe there is a thermostat that you can adjust, but there are several things that could cause this problem.
    1. Rinse agent needed
If you are not using a rinse agent (like Jet-Dry), try this. Basically, they cause the water to "sheet" off the dishes instead of staying in drops.
    2. Water temperature too low
What is the temperature of your hot water coming in to the dishwasher? It should be 120-130 degrees. One thing that might help is to run the water at the kitchen sink until it is hot just before starting your dishwasher. This will let it start with water as hot as possible.
    3. Does your new dishwasher have a "Heat Water" or similar option?
If your water is not hot enough, turn this on and the heating element in your dishwasher will help heat the water.
    4. Energy Saver (or Air Dry, or similar feature) is enabled
This will cause the heat to not come on at all!
    5. Water not draining properly
Look in the bottom after doing a load, and if there is any water down there you may have a clogged drain hose or a clogged drain screen.

Hope this points you in the right direction.

GE dishwasher will not pump - Repair or Buy new one [ 2 Answers ]

Hi-our dishwasher has 3-4 inches of clean water after every cycle. We took out every screen or hose possible thinking that it might be clogged. Nothing helped; so we're guessing it's pump that's not working. Should I get the pump replaced or buy a new dishwasher? Which would be less expensive?
