Its done every day. You can sweat a copper threaded end on a pipe and now use a PVC threaded end to fit that and Teflon tape on the treads.

21 boat said it: no problem...

But: Make sure you make PVC Male thread connection INTO copper Female adapter. If done the other way around, the PVC Female connection will eventually develop a hair-line crack and will split. Also, if used for hot water, than make sure the PVC is designed for hot water application.

Good luck... Let us know how you did... Milo

You can solder a threaded adapter on as mentioned above, or you could use a shielded transition clamp... see the 1st two pictures. You will need to purchase a copper x PVC plastic shielded clamp... a little more user friendly than sweating copper and they work great... just be sure to hang your pipes properly. Most sizes are available at all home supply stores, or you can definitely find these at any plumbing supply store.

Do NOT purchase the fernco all neoprene sleeve with 2 SS bands (see last picture)... these are not best for this application... ;)

    Good luck!
