I'm pretty sure that someone else can give you a description of what to do and how to do it better than I can. If no one does, I'll tell you what I know about it in a day or two.

I just wanted to warn you. Even given the instructions, it is much harder to do than you might think. It is the type of job that you almost have to do a couple of times to learn how to get it right. Getting the liner on the pool so it holds water is easy. Getting the liner straight, the right depth, pattern looking right, wrinkles taken out, etc - not rocket science, but something you won't learn out of a book.

Good luck and maybe some of the pro's on here can give you some pointers.

I start with buying 2 cases of adult beverages and calling 6-8 friends over. You need space everyone around the pool so that they can suspend the liner in the air above the pool walls and slowly lower the liner down. Just before touching your base add about 5 gallons of water, this will help you and you friends see where the liner thinks its center point is. Everybody can move slightly or they can pull more liner to one side as the other folks fed some liner out. Before you add more water you must get the 5 gallon bulge to sit centered in the pool and the seam between the liner wall and the floor even with the lower tck. Once you have a few inches of water you are done, unless you screwed up too much and then you need to pump back to only 5 gallons and start over.

Well, since you haven't received additional answers, I'll give you a little more info - this is from a non-professional. Caveat -- if you try to do this at home, you may screw up as bad as I did on my first try.

Assuming that I was one of the team that went to work with ballenger, I'd need 1 maybe 2 days to sober up and get over the hangover. Do not try to do anything productive during this time.

Seriously: there are a number of descriptions on the web that cover the steps. They just don't necessarily help you understand what to do when things aren't working quite the way you'd like them to. Here is one that I think is helpful.

How to Install a Replacement Vinyl Liner

A couple of points: Don't skimp on the work to do the ground preparation. Get that right and the rest of the job is easier. Proper and consistent depth all the way around is important. -- Don't expect that the water will level the sand once it gets its weight on it (don't laugh, some people do).

When working out the folds and wrinkles in the liner, your best friend is a good quality, old fashioned bathroom plunger - not the kind with the extension that goes into the toilet - flat bottom, flexible rubber. Use it to grip and tweak the liner in the direction it needs to go.

    Good luck.
