    Cervical Cancer? Yes Maybe No?
Two years ago, I found out I had HPV, because I had a wart on my vagina which got removed by a different doctor, but my doctor hasn't mentioned anything about it. 6 months ago my pap smear came back adnormal and that was that. My doc said come back in 6 months. So I have one in the next week. My question is... If it comes back adnormal what would a typical doctor do? My doc doesn't seem to interested nor answer my questions clearly and I have tried to switch but where I live we have a shortage so I am somewhat stuck. I have pelvic pain and dull back pain along with bleeding between periods, not all the time. Also sex hurts to have. I had a baby in August and wondering if this is related or is there maybe something else? I have been reading a lot of Cervical cancer because my doctor mentioned it that adnormal cells can lead to it. But why isn't he in rush nor seem to care much.. I told him about my pelvic pain and he brushed it off... I need advice... Could I have something??

It's possible that abnormal cells will develop into cancer over a period, but most often they won't. It is not unusual for doctors to take a wait and see approach unless a problem in glaringly obvious, because most often the abnormal cells will be gone at the next smear.

Since you are having some pain and abnormal bleeding however, they will likely do a bit more checking. A biopsy will likely be done in the office... similar to a regular pap smear, but a bit more uncomfortable and it will take a bit longer. You will also likely have a transvaginal ultrasound done along with a regular abdominal one. This will allow them to check for thickening in the uterine wall, cysts, etc.. What, if anything, will need to be done further will depend on whether anything is found.

I am 20 weeks pregnant and was told by my doctor that I may have cervical cancer. They are going to check me with a scope next week and then do a biopsy after I have the baby. Will the baby be okay? Has anyone else had this problem. Oh, and I am 22 if that matters.
