Renting a aprtmnt from a person who is now not in Au, and never met before
I found a cheap aprtmnt in Sydney, NSW and I want to rent it. However my problems are that I don't know the owner and the owner is not in Au at the moment. So what documents of the owner should i know to make sure it's safe for me to rent that aprtmnt? Some of my friends said that maybe they are not the owner of the aprmnt. Can anybody help me ? I've got their scanned license via email.

    Hello n:

It's difficult enough to maintain a good working relationship with a landlord who you KNOW. I would NEVER rent where there were problems BEFORE I even spoke with them. This apartment will cause you NOTHING but trouble.

You need to be able to recognize a RED FLAG when you see it.

If you think it's possible that the owner is not aware the apartment is being rented to you, ask for something in writing signed by the owner stating that the person you are dealing with is the owner's agent for this matter and that the owner has authorized the agent to deal with you.
