    Road Worthiness
How do I go about finding out if my 1999 Nissan Altima is road worthy? I need to take a trip out of state, 6-hours, but am afraid to. My car was just serviced: 2 belts and a compression idler were replaced. No my car stalls, and the lights: 'service engine,' 'battery,' 'oil,' come on. All but the 'service engine' light go off when I restart the car after it has stalled. :( Please advise.

Find a trustworthy mechanic who can put it up on a lift and give everything a good look-over.

As for the lights in the dash: it's normal for them to all come on when the vehicle stalls. However, if the check engine light is staying on, you should get it diagnosed before you damage more components.
