What is a small business in VA's obligation to the state of Texas?
I work for a small business in the commonwealth of Virginia. For several months we have been receiving a notice from the Ofc of the AG of Texas for us to register our tax ID and other information with their child support enforcement database.

We fully cooperate with the commonwealth of Virginia's child support enforcement bureau and our operations manager was given an award last year in recognition of our company's diligence in filing new hire information promptly.

My boss tosses these requests from the state of TX when they come in saying that a company operating in VA with no employees in TX (or any other state) has no obligation to that state. I just want to double check that. The letter states that we are required by state and federal law to comply, but it doesn't quote the statute for me to lookup online.

    Thanks!

    Hello Em:

If I were operating a company like yours, I'd throw 'em out too.
