It sounds like you need an ash brown.

You can wait for it to fade and then dye it with the ash brown. That will take a week or so. You can speed up the fading by using strong shampoos (clarifying shampoos), dishwashing detergent (oh heavens!) or even liquid Tide without bleach (Oh grief! ). Since you're not going lighter (are you?), you don't really have to use color remover unless you want to. If you really want to get it NOW, use one of the following color removers: ColorFix, ColorZap, or Color Oops. If you're in Europe use Igora Phantom. Don't use Effasol. Don't use bleach.

You can re-dye it as soon as you want.

There are a lot of colorists and even color companies who say, "wait a week!". The only reason to wait is to allow the scalp to produce natural oils that will protect the scalp (but it doesn't really do much). The hair, itself, won't "heal" or "get better" or anything else. There's no blood supply to the hair so chemical actions that repair the hair don't occur.
