    Need definition of Supervised Visits
My daughter is bi-polar and was recently committed to a mental health faciity. CPS told her husband that she will need supervised visits with her son. He is under the impression that "supervised visits" means another adult in the home while she is with her son. I want to be sure that is correct because I believe the definition is much more strict than that. Could someone please advise me on the definition of supervised visits in Texas.

Thanks so much for your help with this issue.

Have you tried calling them to ask ? Usually it is another party that is responsible for the child while the mother is near. But that's up to your jurisdiction. They could mean visits outside the home.

Formal supervised visits is in a state or court approved facility with trained staff that supervises the visit.

Generally supervised visitation is what the judge says it is. It can vary from case to case. But it basically means that the NCP cannot be alone with the child.

Thanks so much for your quick responses. I am under the impression that my daughter cannot be alone with her son. I just want to ensure my grandson's safety and make sure they are following the exact letter of the law and my grandson is not put into the foster care system because of a misunderstanding.

    Thanks again for your concern.
