How to Set Set Up a Business When Marrying Someone From Another Country.
Hello I am new to the forum!

I would like to ask, since I am marrying someone from another country, how to apply for social security card/tax id and how long it would take to receive a number? And after doing so, how would this new credit appear to creditors/ the bank, as we will be setting up a business? Will we be able to secure a business loan from the bank? Would a credit union (from my job) be the way to go?

We would also need to purchase a house as well.

Thanks in advance for all responses! M

Once he become lawful permanent resident, he will be able to apply for SSN, driver's license, etc. Adjustment of status takes about 6 months and it takes 4-6 weeks to obtain SSN.

He will have to start building his credit from zero and it may take years depending on how he does it, so if you're in a rush to buy a home, you may have to do it in your name only.

Thanks for responding... So I'm curious then, how is it some people can come to this country and begin work right away with restaurants, nail salons and such?

Also as a provisional, isn't it correct he will have to show proof of being able to provide for family? How can he secure a job if he has to show documents in order to work?

**What is the adjustment of status? Is that the 440 form or another? Is there a fee for that?

    Thanks a great deal!
