Sole Proprieter need for a Federal ID # ?
I am interested in starting a very small food stand and want to know what is involved in complying with State Retail Merchant processes. I saw that the Business Tax form on-line ask for a Federal ID #. I plan on doing this as an informal, Sole Proprieter under my own taxes for now because it is just a part time, once a month activity. Do I have to have a Federal ID # to file for an Indiana Retail Merchant Certificate in order to collect & pay the sales tax on my sales?

    Thanks
