    Joint account
    Hi

My Cousin and I spent some time living together, and opened a joint bank account, she moved out last August, and since then I have ran into financial difficulties leading me to bankruptcy. The debt does not belong to her as I ran this up after she had moved out. Will it affect her credit in the future because of my bankruptcy or Is there a way around this?#

    Thank you

You say you opened a joint bank account but you ask if "the debt" is her responsibility. Are you asking about money in the bank or (most probably) some sort of joint credit card.

Anything in joint names will become the responsibility of the other party if you default, bankruptcy or no bankruptcy.
