    3 ton compressor in 5 ton(inside and outside) unit
    Will a 3 ton compressor only (says copeland scroll on it);
    1. Work in my 5 ton unit
    2. Will it be efficient
    Any advice on installing it myself? What to watch out for, etc. I'm sure the pipe sizes will not match up but I figure that is the easy part. Will the electrical system in the 5 ton work with the 3 ton?
    I would like to do it as an experiment (and if it works, keep it). My 5 ton unit is way oversized for my home. It runs for very sort periods when it comes on.
    Other facts;
    Both are single phase
    Both use "22" refrigerant

    1. Yes ( it should run) ,but problem is it probably will run 24/7,without getting the job done
    2. no
    Seems like a waist of time,but its your time and your money
    Are you EPA certified to handle r-22
