Are sleeping pills making me sick?
I take the pill SLEEP MD. About 5 days a week and have been for about a year because I have insomnia without it. Lately, I've been feeling really sick - nausea and anxiety - and tired and was wondering if it's a long term effect from sleep md. The pills are supossed to be natural and non habit forming so I thought it was safe but could I be feeling sick because of these pills?

The long term effect of sleeping pills are not good!

Sleeping pills reduce brain cell activity during the day, affecting short-term memory as well as causing a hangover effect.

Sleeping pills can actually get addictive like cigarettes and cocain

Sleeping pills can help you at night time but they do not improve daytime function or performance [it effects our consciousness, judgment, memory and intelligence]

Sleeping pills can give you a number of things:
Nausea, constipation and a general uneasy feeling.

My suggestion: get off the pills.

Figured I had to spread the rep, but I agree with Muddy there, You should probably get off the pills as soon as you can.

I have insomnia and use melatonin. It is a natural hormone the body produces. Without it I don't sleep as well but with it I sleep very well. Not habit forming. Try the under the tongue variety for best absorption. I take 1 mg tablets sometimes 3 a night or for a night depending on how awake I am. I buy mine over the net and save 50% or more.

Not habit forming and if anything it is something the body needs anyway for proper health.

Thanks everyone.. these pills (non-prescription, sleep md) are actually supposed to be natural and non addictive so I didn't think they could make me sick. Haha maybe I'm wrong and fooled by the word natural but I've been taking them for a year so I thought it was strange how they would just start affecting me now

In my town sleep MD is right beside all the other "advertised pills"; Hydroxycut, Cylaris, and even they're own PMS be gone pills.

I think if those pills have their own section then they're not good for you [it's also at the back of the store]-- I remember I wanted to try an "advertised pill" and the clerk ended up bringing me to the homopathic medicines.

    Just a thought...

Thanks for the clarification Sarah. Guess I don't spend much time in that part of the store. :p
