Hampton Bay Fan light switch 'broken'?
Our light switch gets quite a workout. It just failed yesterday.

Came out to use it in the morning and found it 'bottomed out'. That is, apparently the return spring has broken.

I can force the pull chain up about an inch into the bottom ferrule; that's how I measured the slack. But cannot find a way to open up the brass fixture to do any repair.

The light/fan was installed Aug 1998. I sure didn't expect the 30 year warranty item to so soon. The owner's manual seems to be all about installation, but don't find anything on repair. And the phone number, 1-800-223-3306, for customer service is either busy, too late in the day, or??

Any one know about servicing this problem?

    Thanks in advance. Harley

You will probably find 3-4 small screws holding the cover on. Remopve them to get to switch to replace. Cheap and easy fix. Be sure to cut the power to unit before attempting repair.
