I need an adult woman's opinion on a Dean Koontz novel
Hi, I am seeking a females opinion on something. I am reading a book from Dean Koontz. In the story, a 40 year old woman kidnaps a 6 year old boy. She approaches him from behind and covers his mouth with her hand to keep him quiet from the neighbors.

I am a writer and I pay lots of attention to detail and happen to dissect everything. I find this quite unrealistic since women have small hands. The boy is 4'6 and weighs 65 lbs. His mouth and nose are 1 cm apart.

Do you think it is realistic that a woman's hand is big enough to cover a boys mouth with her hand to keep him quiet? How close to his nose might your hand come? Do you think the boy would be forced to smell her hand against his will if she kept him quiet? His nose and mouth are a quarter of an inch apart. Explain your answer.

I look forward to your detailed response. Thanks for reading my question:)

I doubt if I were the boy I would be so concerned about the smell her hand might have.
I guess it would depend. Like I know some women that have large hands. I also have known small women that can beat the #&@* out of a big guy.
Also I am sure there are positions that you could hold your hand that would be tougher to break plus there is the element of surprise that catch people off guard

Thanks for your response. So if you covered the boys mouth, how close to his nose might your hand come based upon the size of your hand? What part of your hand would be nearest his nose? And why must the boy smell your hand based upon how your hand is positioned? Explain the best you can. Thanks again for your help. The more detailed you are, the better I can understand.

Really? The book goes into that much detail on how many centimeters apart the boy's mouth is from his nose? Why must he smell the hand? Well, if someone's mouth is covered, they do need to breath, right?
I find this question very odd. What's the name of this book?
