Squeaking RCA dryer that tears washcloths
My dryer has that shrill squeal that so many others have described, only it seems to catch my washcloths in the top portion of the door opening. When I pull them out, it tears them. I am worried that it will eventually tear our clothes.
A friend of ours says it is the plastic guide that separates the metal drum from the metal door opening. He said he replaced his; and, within a year, it had started doing the same thing again.
I really don't have the money to buy a new dryer, but if the repair isn't long lasting, I must. What do you think? Is it indeed the plastic guide or something else? Is it worth repairing? Can you help me like you did the other folks?
Thank you so much for your time.

Frigidaire Dryer Squeaking [ 1 Answers ]

When I turn my dryer on it squeaks for most of the cycle. Now it sounds like it wants to turn on but doesn't and then clicks as if overheated. Unplugging and time seem to do the trick but this is getting to be too much. Model # FDE7970EW1

GE Electric Dryer - squeaking [ 1 Answers ]

I have a 20 year old GE electric dryer that I have never had a problem with until this week. There is a very high pitch squeak. It usually starts a few minutes after the dryer starts. Is it worth repairing, or should I just consider buying a new dryer?
