    Civil Summons.What do I do?
I had a contract with a cell phone service for 12 months. I had the phone for about a month and a half. Well, needless to say I couldn't pay it. They have since charged me out the yazoo. I now have a civil summons that I have to respond to within 20 days or I will have a warrant for my arrest. The bill is over 2800.00(including 716.00 in attorneys fees) How should I go about this? I am scared? HELP :(

Assuming you live in the US or Canada, we no longer have debtors prison. So unless you did some fraud to break a criminal law with the phone, this is a civil issue.

Of course the issue is, after one month, if you could not pay for it, most likely you should not have bought it, And as soon as you could not, you should have made arrangements to pay off the penalty for closing the account.

But now, you will owe the penalty, the interst, the late charges and the legal fees and if it goes to court, the court fees.

They will basically win, and get a judgement against you, if you live in a state where they can garnish your wages they will do that.
