If I live in Florida and the child and mother live in New York and I give up all my parental rights can I still be held responsible for child support?

Of course unless the mother has found a new parter ( husband) that wants to adopt.

Next you can't really give up your rights anyway, you don't have to use them, you can allow the mother full legal and phsycial custody but that is not your rights.

So just write the check each month, easier to have it taken out of your pay

Can a child be adopted before parental rights are given up buy the absent parent? Or does the absent parent have to give up parentle rights first? I want nothing to do with a child that lives in New York but don't believe that the mother will have her fiancé adopt the child so that I will have to continue to pay child support for a child that I do not know or intend to ever know. I said I wanted no part of that child before she even had it and she still tries to make my life a living hell.she had the baby to keep me but it dident work so all she has now is child support and making my life hell, she said that she wants me to give up my parentle rights but she is full of tricks ! What doI do?

No adoption can take place until the rights of the other bio parent are resolved, in fact if they will not sign those rights over, normally no adoption can take place.

But you can not give up those rights unless they are filing for adoption. So if the new husband does not want to adopt you can not force them.

Ad you do't have to be part of the child's life, but you will have to write a check every month to send to the child, you don't have to visit, don't have to write ( except a check of course)

And no, she is merely asking for the child support she is due, sorry but if you have a child, does not matter if you are a poor parent, or a dead beat dad, the courts can force you to pay.

Even if you give up your "rights" if there is no adoption, ** not normally done or allowed, you still pay unless the child is adopted.

This type of thing disgusts me. People want the fun of making a baby but when it comes time to be a man and take responsibility they cut bait and run.
Yes you had sex with the mother and that resulted in a child. No amount of hemming and hawing is going to alleviate you of the financial responsibility... and I highly doubt you will find any sympathy on this board.

The bottomline here is that you cannot relinquish your rights. Courts are VERY reluctant to grant a Termination of Parental Rights (TPR) and will generally only do so to clear the way for adoption or if the parent is a danger to the child. They will definitely not grant one to allow the parent to get out of paying support.

So you need to resign yourself to supporting this child for as long as legally required.

And no, you can't falsify a DNA test. As you asked in another post.

On a non legal note, I have often said that no one should engage in sexual intercourse unless they are ready to have a child. You consented to having sex with her, presumably with the knowledge that a child could result (no form of birth control is 100%). If you didn't want a child, then you should not have done so.
