    No hot water HELP
Our bathroom has no hot water coming out of the tub. It is a single handle moen faucet, water runs through on cold, and when you turn it to hot, cold water still comes out, it doesn't get hot.

But all other faucets have hot water. HELP, I need to fix this ASAP, we only have 1 bathroom and the kids need to shower.

Did this come on gradually or all of a sudden? Do you have a Moen Posi-Temp? Have you removed the cartridge and checked to see if hot water's getting to the faucet? If you need instructions on how to open the valve click n back. Regards, Tom

Thanks for the reply. My brother lived here before and he says that there was hot water and we just moved in so I'm not sure about gradually.

I don't know if it is a moen posi-temp (how would I find that out? It just says moen)

We've tried to remove the cartridge -- it's stuck -- really stuck tight. Is there any way to get it out, we're trying to be careful and not ruin anything.

    Any suggestions would be helpful

    Thanks

Hi Terri, (I have daughter named Terri Rae)

Because the "O" rings swell sometimes the cartridge is hard to pull out. Moen makes a cartridge puller,(see image) just for that. They can be purchased atmost all plumbing wholesale houses. Your in luck. My company installed nothing but Moen valves in their new construction. Let me walk you through removing a Moen cartridge. First turn off the water under the sink, then pry off the metal plate directly on top of the handle. You will find a screw underneath, remove that and pull out and up at the samre time on the handle. Work it around a bit and it should come free. You will see a brass clip holding in the cartridge. Before you pull that clip, PAY VERY CLOSE ATTENTION AS TO HOW THE CARTRIDGE AND THE CLIP ARE POSITIONED IN THE VALVE BODY, yOU ARE GOING TO HAVE TO INSTALL IT THE SAME WAY. Pull the clip and take the white nylon tool that came with the new cartridge and try to break the cartridge free. If you can turn the cartridge pull up on the stem to remove the cartridge. For those'hard to remove cartridges' Moen makes a cartridge puller that can be purchased at your local plumbing supply house. Don't forget to coat the new cartridge with the silicon lube that came with the new cartridge. Never use grease or oil on neoprene "O" rings. Now just put everything back the opposite way you took it apart.

Let me know if you have hot water up to the faucet after you get the cartridge out. Regards, Tom

Tom, thanks so much. We got the tool and removed the cartridge and changed it and we have hot water again. Again thanks for your help.
