Oiling an AO Smith furnace blower motor
Hi, I have a gas furnace with an AO Smith Conservationist motor in the blower. It works but it seems to be working too hard, and I think it needs oil. However, I don't see any oil ports.

Does anyone know where I would find these? Or do I just squirt a few drops of motor oil on the end of the shaft where the squirrel cage attaches?

The AO Smith web site talked about "oil flowing from a reservoir to the feeder wick which rides right on the shaft. As the shaft rotates, the feeder wick pumps a microscopically thin layer of oil from the reservoir down onto the shaft. The oil flows down the shaft until it hits the "flinger" on the end which returns the oil to the reservoir."

This part of the article is a bit above my understanding. The article is very clear about using a bit of motor oil, but it doesn't say where to put it. Maybe this should be obvious...

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I am in Colorado and it is pretty cold right now -- it would be great to get the furnace working again!

Many motors are called lubed for life and will have no way to properly add oil to them. No oil ports? No oiling.
