    Pump voltage
My 1 horsepower sprinkling pump is bad. The electric line is 220 volt.

The new pump states"120/230 volts dual voltage motor comes pre-wired at 120 volts"

Can I use it, what exactly does dual votage mean??

If you remove the cover where the wires make connections, you can reconnect to the 220/240 volt configuration, a diagram may be real small on motor, or under the cover plate.
    Paperwork should also show.

Dual voltage simply means that you have the option of running your pump on 110 or 220 volts AC. 220 volts is more cost effective then 110. You're running 220 volts. You'll have to switch over to 220. Follow Stratmandos advice and you'll be just fine. Good luck, Tom
