    Kitchen water flow
For some reason the water coming out of my kitchen faucet stutters. I have tried shutting off the water and turning it back on, but it only lasts a little while, then it starts right up again. Please help!

    Thank you,

    Jennie

    Hi nJennie,
We need a little more information. Brand name of faucet? One handle or two knobs? How old? Do you have a spray attachment? Let me know, tom

Sounds like you have "seat chatter".
Seat chatter usually occurs in a two knob valve,(see image) when a washer breaks off a piece or a small pebble gets up in the supply line. The noise you hear is the piece of washer/trash vibrating against the seat as the water rushes past. To repair this you will have to shut off the water and open up both the hot and cold sides of the valve body. Remove the stem and washer assemblies and check the washers to see if the washer retaining screw is tight and for breaks in the washer itself. If they're worn, nows the time to replace them. Before you reassamble and with the valve body still open turn the hot and cold water on for a moment to flush out the supply line from any trash or debris that may still be in there. Good luck, Tom
